Walking for beginners
Every adventure starts with a single step.
Short, friendly walks to help you build confidence, get active and enjoy walking with others.
Have you ever looked at one of our guided walks and thought…
“I’d love to join, but I don’t think I could manage the distance.”
If so, you’re not alone.
We’ve spoken to lots of people who want to become more active, spend more time outdoors and meet new people, but aren’t quite ready for the longer distances of our regular walks.
Some are new to walking. Others are getting back into it after a break. And many simply don’t want to worry about holding a group back.
That’s where Boots On Adventures – Walking for Beginners comes in.
These are relaxed, friendly Tuesday daytime walks around Swale and Maidstone, starting from around 3 miles and gradually building up as the programme develops.
There are no races, no pressure and no expectations that you need to be super-fit.
Just a chance to get outdoors, meet people and discover what you’re capable of.
And they’re completely FREE.

Walking is about much more than putting one foot in front of the other.
It can be a great way to improve your fitness, spend time outdoors, clear your head and meet new people.
That’s why we created Walking for Beginners — to give people an easy way into group walking without feeling that they have to be ready for a 7, 8 or 10-mile walk straight away.
You might come along for a few shorter walks and discover that you’re soon ready to go a little further.
You might make some new friends along the way.
Or you might simply enjoy a Tuesday morning outdoors.
Whatever brings you along, you’re welcome.
Every walk is free, there’s no membership and there’s no obligation to join our longer walks.
Just come along, put your boots on and enjoy the company.
