Step into the calm of the countryside with Rachel for a refreshing midweek walk through the woodlands, farmland, and historic villages of north Kent. This circular 10.8 km route, starting and ending at the friendly Rose and Crown pub in Shorne, is a gentle and rewarding way to stretch your legs and enjoy the landscapes between Gravesend and the Medway Valley.
The route weaves through the ancient woodland of Shorne Woods, a former clay and chalk extraction site now transformed into a haven for walkers and wildlife. With tall trees, leafy trails, and occasional glimpses across the North Downs, it’s the perfect setting for a peaceful escape. From there, we’ll continue through open farmland and winding lanes toward Cobham, a charming village full of character and history.
Cobham is home to an impressive medieval church, almshouses, and links to Charles Dickens, who featured the village in The Pickwick Papers. It’s a lovely place to pause mid-walk and soak up the atmosphere before heading back across countryside paths to Shorne.
Rachel will lead the walk at a sociable pace, making this ideal for those who enjoy walking with others, chatting along the way, and taking in the views. And with a cosy pub at both the start and finish, there’s the perfect opportunity to round off the morning with lunch or a drink.
The walk starts promptly on time. If you’re running a bit behind schedule, give us a call to inform us.
