Greensand way around hosey hill

A quick intro

Join Boots On Adventures for an 8-mile winter walk through the beautiful countryside around Westerham, exploring a landscape packed with history, woodland, open commons and spectacular views.

Starting at Hosey Hill, we’ll pick up sections of the Greensand Way and make our way across Crockhamhill Common and Hosey Common, taking in the changing landscape as we walk. Along the route we’ll discover the remains of Squerries Park Camp, an Iron Age hill fort that gives us a fascinating glimpse into the area’s ancient past.

With the walk taking place in early December, the countryside will have a wonderful winter character, and the higher ground gives us some fantastic views across the surrounding Kent and Surrey landscape. It’s a great opportunity to get out into the countryside, enjoy some fresh air and discover a part of the Kent Downs National Landscape that you may not have explored before.

Expect a varied 8-mile adventure, some great scenery, a little bit of history and as always with Boots On Adventures, and great  company.

Learn more aboutthis wonderful walk

This 8-mile circular walk takes us into some of the most beautiful countryside around Westerham, exploring the landscape where the Kent and Surrey countryside meet.

Starting at Hosey Hill Car Park, we’ll head out onto sections of the Greensand Way, one of the area’s best-known long-distance walking routes. Along the way we’ll pass through the open landscapes of Crockhamhill Common and Hosey Common, with a mixture of woodland, heathland and open countryside providing plenty of variety.

One of the highlights of the walk is Squerries Park Camp, an ancient Iron Age hill fort hidden within this historic landscape. As we walk through the area, we’ll discover how people have used and shaped these hills for thousands of years.

Being just south of Westerham, the walk sits within the beautiful landscape of the Kent Downs National Landscape, with some fantastic viewpoints along the route. In December, the countryside takes on a very different character, with winter woodland, open skies and far-reaching views creating a wonderfully atmospheric day out.

It’s a walk with a little bit of everything — ancient history, beautiful countryside, woodland trails and big views — all wrapped into an 8-mile Boots On Adventures outing.

The walk starts promptly on time. If you’re running a bit behind schedule, give us a call to inform us.
