Midweek Ramble: Views, Woods & Barrows Walk
A quick intro
Join us on Wednesday 5th August for a scenic and varied loop walk exploring the North Downs countryside between Addington and Trosley Country Park.
This 11.4 km route blends ancient history, woodland trails, and panoramic ridge-top views. The route includes a few short climbs totalling 158m of elevation gain, enough to feel satisfying without being too strenuous.
Along the way, we’ll pass Coldrum Longbarrow, a Neolithic burial site and one of Kent’s most intriguing ancient landmarks. The woodland and open field sections provide a beautiful contrast throughout the walk.

- We welcome friendly dogs on our walks, provided they remain on a lead at all times. The owner is fully responsible for their dog throughout the walk.
- We take photos during our walks for promotional and training purposes. If you prefer not to be included, just let us know on the day.
- Cancellation policy states: Full payment becomes due if a user cancels within 4 days of the activity. Any person cancelling outside of 4 days, will receive a credit available to use within 90 days. Cancel at least 4 days before the event to receive a credit note for a future walk, valid for 90 days.

Join us on our walk , as we make our way towards Coldrum Long Barrow, a remarkable Neolithic burial site dating back over 5,000 years. Thought to be the best-preserved megalithic tomb in Kent, Coldrum offers a rare and atmospheric glimpse into the lives—and beliefs—of our prehistoric ancestors. The name ‘Coldrum’ may even have Saxon origins, hinting at the long continuity of human presence in the area.
We’ll continue along the Wealdway, a scenic long-distance footpath winding through the Kent countryside.
From there, we head into Trosley Country Park, once part of the Trosley Towers Estate. In the 19th century, this land was privately owned by Sir Sydney Waterlow, who laid out ornamental gardens and woodlands. Today, it’s a peaceful nature reserve known for chalk grassland habitats and sweeping views.
We’ll take in spectacular panoramic views across the Kent Downs National Landscape, that showcases some of the best chalk ridge scenery in England.
