Learn more aboutthis wonderful walk

Join us on Sunday 15th February 2026 for a scenic 8 mile guided walk starting in the historic village of Chilham. Parking is available at the village car park (free at the time of writing), and Chilham railway station is approximately a 10 minute walk from the car park, making the start point accessible for those arriving by train.

This varied countryside route links two of Kent’s best-known long-distance trails, following the North Downs Way before returning via the Stour Valley Trail. From Chilham, we head onto the chalk downland of the North Downs, enjoying open hillside walking, wide views, orchards, and vineyards in classic Kent scenery. The return leg follows the gentler landscape of the Great Stour Valley, where the route winds through meadows, closely tracing the calm waters of the River Stour.

The contrast between the elevated downland paths and the low-lying river valley offers a rewarding and well-balanced walk, highlighting the diversity of Kent’s countryside. Along the way, there are opportunities to observe local wildlife and appreciate the quieter rural landscapes that define this part of Kent.

The walk finishes in Chartham with a relaxed visit to the Church Mouse, where a cream tea is included. This consists of one scone served with cream and jam, with a choice of tea or coffee — a well-earned treat after a day on the trail.

The walk starts promptly on time. If you are running behind schedule, please give us a call to let us know.
